It’s Monday! What are you reading?

Aloha on this beautiful day in our city. We are receiving high 70′s this week. Summer weather is comin’ early. But who knows with global warming affecting temperatures everywhere.

I finished this book a couple of days ago:

It’s the second installment of the Fairwick Trilogy.

While the first book, The Demon Lover, was a foal wobbling in its first steps of life, The Water Witch, was a river with scattered white rapids. I had read on the back cover that this book was a “Gothic-style” novel. I Googled that and read this style was a mix of horror, romance, and fiction. Something clicked in my brain. It totally made sense now with the The Demon Lover! It wasn’t a supernatural romance nor an intellectual Twilight like Deborah Harkness’ A Discovery of Witches. The voice of the first book was different, almost like a Jane Eyre movie.

Okay, so where was I? River with white rapids, got it. The pace of The Water Witch┬ámoved constantly. There was always something goin’ on, either magically or emotionally with characters. More types of creatures were introduced which completely amazed me as I’m usually used to reading about witches, vampires, and werewolves. And Callie wasn’t just some oblivious newbie anymore; homegirl got her powers on. I really want to read the third installment and hope the climax is explosive!

Mahalo for taking time out of your day to read Knitspiring Odyssey. Please share your thoughts &/or gut reaction to this post. It's interesting to walk a part of that mile in your shoes when I read your comment.
