Have you ever underestimated time?
I thought earlier this week I would have time to take care of this and that at the end of the week. Well, I got totally mo-ded as today was one of those “running around like a chicken with its head cut off” days. To sum it up, I dragged the princesses to six stores!
And to top off my day, I managed to whip these out before Amy drops off E’s birthday pie and cake:
This is CraftyisCool’s Baby Monster pattern. I’ve had this bookmarked since I took a crochet class in Sausalito back around 2011. You can also find it on Rav, BTW.
I started around 8 something last night and got the orange parts done with a start on the yellow head/body. Then after we had arrived home and I had grabbed a bite to eat, about 2 p.m. I started to finish everything else off.
I made these for Amy’s boys. She’s very good to us. I had started talking to her last year at pick up. Her youngest son, who’s preschool age, would always hide behind a pole and peek out at me with a favorite in hand. I call him Superhero.
His is the orange one – Superhero’s Sidekick. The yellow one – Mondylster – is for his 2nd grade brother.
My embroidery skills are totally novice level. I didn’t have any black embroidery thread so I doubled up sewing thread. If I had more time I would have made teeth and maybe a mask and cape for Superhero’s. But oh well, Princess Cupcake said they’re cute so that is kosher for this time around.
I highly rec this pattern for beginners to magic ring or for a quick gift for a child. The base is so easy to sew to the body via whipstitch and I had sewn a bit of running stitch through the pieces where the feet are.
Okay, off to start dinner. It’s a special day today that jumps start a busy tomorrow.
