Hi there. Today’s theme is about keepin’ it real which involves some cleanin’ up.
I’ve been thinkin’ about this for awhile now. FB has always been a bit addictive for me ever since I got a smart phone two years ago. Lately, I feel distracted, like there’s too much going on. My daughters are home ’til school starts, school starts soon and there’s been appointments and my first, board meeting coming up, and then there’s the fiber world.
So yesterday evening, I took the step to deactivate my account. I really appreciate those of you who “Liked” Knitspiring Odyssey’s FB page. I really had fun posting on there. Unfortunately, it’s linked to my personal FB account so it went too. I may go back in the future when my Etsy shop is officially open.
But right now, I feel like going “back to basics” where it’s my knitting and the blog besides my mum and wife duties.
II. Hand Spinning
I took in the feedback I got from experienced spinners. As you can see, I took off what was done and am going to try to get out the twist as much as I can so I can separate smaller pieces, draft them, and then join one slowly at a time. I won’t do this right away as I’d liked to concentrate on finishing a WIP or two.
So here’s my bag of intended yarn for designing. I’m a bit frustrated with the Fair Isle design I’ve been working on.
First it was about color combinations. Then it became about the visual appearance of the design. So I’ve stopped for now. I need a break. I had created some kind of geometrical color design on Excel but didn’t feel like it was meaningful. You know from reading my blog all this time that I’m all about meaning. So I’m taking a breather and hopefully get reinspired another day.
So my main focus right now is on my shawl which had a set back. Last night while watching Shark Week, I realized that I didn’t have that purl edging right before I increased to 400+ sts. I finally understood after some examination of the book that I didn’t register the directions correctly. So I frogged and paid attention, but got confused since I started on a right side rather than on the wrong side. Then the light bulb came on which made me figure out I had to unknit one more row. So I’m restarting the progress I had made last week.
Okay. Another mini catharsis for me today. GTG and take my daughters to a free, jewelry-making class at the North Beach Library.
Until then my friends…
